Give The Windows In Your Seattle Home The TLC They Need!

Making sure your windows are in great shape is one way to do that. The windows of your home are easily overlooked. They are so obvious, we see right through them—pun intended. After a long winter, it is time to give those windows a little TLC so that you can enjoy the beautiful spring colors outdoors from inside your home. - Remove any plastic or additional insulation you put in or over the windows over winter to block drafts.
- Use a special cleaner or a razor to remove any residue from tape or other products from the glass. Placing the razor flat against the glass and gently scraping will keep the blade from scratching the glass.
- Use a vacuum hose to clean out the tracks. Make sure you get the upper corners where cobwebs tend to cling as well.
- Use a mixture of warm water and dish soap to wipe down the frame around the window and the tracks. Use a scrubber for areas that have any residue clinging. Once finished washing, use a dry towel to wipe down the frame.
- Check the weep holes at the bottom of the window frame to ensure they aren’t clogged. Dislodge any debris that may be clogged with a towel or soft brush.
- Lastly, use your window cleaner of choice to wipe down the glass. You’ll need to remove the screens to get the outside of the window. Give the screens a good spray while they are off. You can wash them in a tub with a little dish soap and water if you like. If you have a second floor, use an extension tool or grab a ladder to reach those windows. Ideally, it is best not to wash windows when the sun is directly shining on them. This time of year is perfect for taking care of the window cleaning.
